Objective
Wonga.es came to Kurve with a spammy collection of links to their name. Following the release of Google’s Panda 2.0 algorithm, links from low quality domains which used keyword stuffed anchor text resulted in nasty penalties from the search engine. This caused Wonga.es to plummet down the organic search results. Our goal was to “cleanse” the Wonga.es link profile, removing harmful links and helping them to get back on top.
STRATEGY
Our first port of call was to tackle the nasty links which were harming Wonga.es’s organic performance. To do this our SEO team dug deep into the website’s backlink profile, conducting a comprehensive audit of all Wonga.es and a recently purchased domain Credittopocket.com. Every link was then subject to a manual review and classified to highlight the most serious, harmful offenders. Our team then got underway with a large-scale outreach process, contacting as many webmasters as possible in order to remove the spammy links. In cases where webmasters responsible for harmful links were out of reach, we arranged for the links to be directly disavowed by Google.
